SMEs consider green printing
More than half of small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) would consider buying green printing products, according to Hewlett Packard (HP).
While the survey by the printer manufacturer revealed that only four per cent of UK SMEs put the environment at the top of their priority list, 54 per cent claimed they would buy green printing goods.
The research also indicated that those in printing sales jobs could also get in SME's good books by offering them "straightforward and practical advice" and simple ways printing can be ecofriendly.
According to Andrew Forsyth, director of HP's supplies imaging and printing group: "The focus is on increasing printing efficiency, reducing waste and using less energy."
He added that the biggest barrier for SMEs going green was often commercial pressure, so simple printing tips that have minimal commercial impact are often well-received.
The research indicates that 96 per cent of SMEs already fight the environmental cause by recycling cartridges - a fact that many of those with printing technical sales jobs will already be aware.
