Sales executives 'should inspire, not fire'
Managers have been urged to work with their staff to stave off the worst effects of the credit crunch.
Online Recruitment magazine reports on advice from Rob Coates of Willerby Hill, who claims that organisations that opt for redundancies during a period of economic slowdown may regret this course of action.
According to Mr Coates, people in positions of power - potentially including sales executives - should focus on the attributes offered by employees and think about how workers can help their organisation weather the storm.
He claims that "the employment market is more predatory than ever before" and advises companies that they "should be positioning themselves as top employers in their sector and geographic area so that they attract and retain the best workers".
Meanwhile, a recent study by Personnel Decision International found that future chief executive officers can be identified by specific personality traits, including a lack of passive aggressive tendencies.
