For instance, rolling out a salary sacrifice scheme - giving access to facilities such as childcare or bicycles - can benefit both workers and employers, the article recommends.
And Cambridgeshire county council gives a CamCard to all employees as soon as they join the authority, giving them access to discounts in restaurants and shops nearby.
Such initiatives can show workers they are appreciated even in tough times, the article indicates.
