Website failures 'could cost UK firms'
Companies in the UK could lose money in two ways if their website fails, it has been suggested.
In news which may interest people in sales jobs, an expert has warned that as well as causing firms to miss out on revenue generated through online sales, website problems can cause consumers to defect to other businesses.
According to Guy Bunker, chief scientist at Symantec, companies should therefore take care to avoid such circumstances.
He stated: "Depending on the supplier, of either the hardware or network, these problems can be ameliorated against with a high availability solution."
Mr Bunker added that such solutions mean that if there is a failure, the website automatically moves to a back-up site where it can continue to run.
Earlier this month, a suspension of Sainsburys.co.uk due to technical problems was reported as causing the firm to lose more than £1 million in online sales.
